Make Waves 2.0 is a compact internal-and-external vibrator wrapped in velvet-touch liquid silicone, with a bulbous head, 20 settings (15 vibration and 5 pulsation), and an XLR8 turbo boost for when you want everything at once. It's 5.25 inches long, 4 inches insertable, 1.25 inches wide, waterproof, and magnetically rechargeable. It's the closest match I've found to the original Make Waves, and if that's the toy you're trying to replace, this is the one. If you never owned the original, it's simply a very soft, very capable small vibe.
Make Waves 2.0 or Adventurer Curve? Make Waves 2.0 is the soft, simple pick: one plush shaft, one motor, 20 settings, and a turbo button. Adventurer Curve is the do-everything pick: a curved G-spot shaft plus a removable air-pulse sleeve for the clitoris, two motors, two buttons. Want the plushest feel in the smallest package? Make Waves 2.0.
I get a version of the same message every week: "I loved Make Waves, where did it go?" The original was retired. This is the toy I bring people to now. The packaging won't say "Make Waves" on it, and I'll explain why below, so nobody's surprised when the box arrives.
What is Make Waves 2.0?
Make Waves 2.0 is the Nu Sensuelle Skye XLR8 Vibe in velvet-touch liquid silicone. "Make Waves 2.0" is a boutique nickname I use because it's the closest comparable model to the original Make Waves design, and it's the name people search for. The PDP says the same thing in red so there's no confusion: the packaging doesn't display that name.
The shape is a short, smooth shaft with a bulbous head designed for broad coverage, inside or out. It runs 20 settings through a two-button interface: 15 vibration modes, 5 pulsation modes, and a separate XLR8 turbo boost that jumps straight to maximum. It's fully body-safe, waterproof and submersible, and charges on a magnetic USB connection. A full charge takes about 2.5 hours and runs 30 to 60 minutes. It carries a two-year warranty.
What it isn't: it isn't a rabbit and it isn't a thruster. It's a single-motor vibe that does internal and external well because of its shape and its skin.
What did I love?
The liquid silicone. This is the headline. Velvet-touch liquid silicone has a cloud-like softness that traditional hard silicone doesn't. It's the same "real feel" idea as my other soft-touch toys, and it makes the head feel less like a tool and more like a body.
The bulbous head. Broad contact instead of a point. Internally that means it presses across the G-spot area rather than poking at it. Externally it covers the clitoris and the tissue around it at once, which is what most people actually want from a "clit vibe."
The turbo button. The XLR8 boost is a shortcut to full power. You don't have to click through 20 settings to get there, and you don't lose your place when you come back down. It's the feature that gets used at the end of every session.
The size. Just over five inches overall and four insertable. It fits in a hand, in a bag, and it isn't intimidating on the nightstand. For someone moving from a bullet to their first insertable, the width is right.
Magnetic charging. No pin to line up. The cord snaps on.
What should you know before buying?
The box will not say "Make Waves." I've said it twice already and I'll say it a third time because it's the one thing that generates emails. You're buying the Skye XLR8 Vibe. It's the closest comparable toy to the original Make Waves, which is why I named it that way.
One motor. If you want internal and external stimulation at the same time, from two separate motors, that's a rabbit. This is a single-motor vibe you move where you want it. That's a feature for some people and a limit for others.
Run time is 30 to 60 minutes. Long enough for a session, not long enough to leave charged in a drawer for months. Top it off before date night.
Water-based lube only. The PDP says it directly: apply your favorite water-based lubricant. Silicone lube on liquid silicone is a mistake you don't get to undo.
Toy care, the right way. This is the part people skip, and it's the part that decides whether a toy lasts a year or a month:
- Lube: water-based only, always, with a silicone toy, and this one is liquid silicone. Aqua water-based lubricant is my go-to. Not sure what's safe with what? Check my lube and toy compatibility chart.
- Cleaning: a dedicated adult toy cleaner only, like Cleansing Foam adult toy cleaner. No hand soap, dish soap, or antibacterial cleaners. They break down the material and can throw off vaginal pH.
- Breathable storage: one toy per Toy Tote, which is Bioshield 75 lined so toys don't touch, melt, or discolor.
- Locked storage: the small Locking Toy Chest in gold or black, or the large Lockable Adult Toy Chest with two velvet-lined compartments, a carry handle, and a 3-digit combination lock.
How do you use Make Waves 2.0?
- Charge fully on the magnetic USB port before first use.
- Add water-based lube to the head. With liquid silicone the glide is half the point.
- Press the power button and cycle through the 20 vibration and pulsation settings.
- Use it externally first if you're new: hold the bulbous head against the clitoris and let the coverage do the work.
- Go internal with the head angled toward the front wall. Four insertable inches puts the head right on the G-spot area for most bodies.
- Hit XLR8 when you want everything at once.
- Rinse under warm water, clean with a toy cleaner, dry, and store in a Toy Tote.
Make Waves 2.0 vs Adventurer Curve vs Sure Thing
Three internal vibes, three different philosophies.
| Toy | Best for | Key feature | Water |
|---|---|---|---|
| Make Waves 2.0 | Plush, simple, internal or external | Velvet-touch liquid silicone, 20 settings, XLR8 turbo boost | Waterproof, submersible |
| Adventurer Curve | Hands-free G-spot plus air pulse | Curved shaft, removable air-pulse sleeve, 5 clitoral + 7 shaft settings | Submersible to 1 m for 30 min |
| Sure Thing | Thrusting and a rabbit teaser | Pulsating shaft with 7 patterns, rabbit with 3 speeds + 4 patterns, travel lock | Submersible to 1 m for 30 min |
If you're not sure whether you want single-motor or dual, my rabbit vibrators guide lays out the trade-off, and the G-spot guide explains where the head of a toy like this should be pointing.
What's the verdict?
Make Waves 2.0 earns its nickname. It's the softest small vibe I carry, the bulbous head is right for both jobs, and the turbo button is the kind of feature you don't know you want until you have it. It's also an honest recommendation for the person who lost the original and wants the closest thing.
- Best for: anyone replacing the original Make Waves, and anyone stepping up from a bullet to a first insertable vibe.
- Buy it if: you want a plush, real-feel surface, a compact size, and one motor you control.
- Skip it if: you want dual stimulation from two motors or a thrusting action. Adventurer Curve or Sure Thing instead.
