To use the Best Bud Rose, charge it fully with the magnetic cord, add a little water-based lubricant around the clitoris, then rest the silicone petals over the clitoris so the opening forms a closed seal against your skin. Hold the single button for three seconds to power on, then press it to move through 3 vibrating speeds and 7 pulsing patterns until you find the one you like. Hold it there lightly — air pulse needs a seal, not pressure. It is shower friendly but must never be submerged.
The message I get most about air-pulse toys is some version of "I tried it and it did nothing." Almost every time, the toy was fine — the seal was the problem. Air pulse is not a vacuum and it is not a vibrator pressed against you. It moves a pocket of air in and out against the clitoris, and that only works if the air has nowhere else to go. Petals sitting at an angle, slightly off to one side, or mashed flat let the pressure escape, and you feel almost nothing.
Who is this guide for? Anyone opening their first air-pulse toy, anyone who tried one and felt nothing, and anyone who wants a travel-size version of a sensation they already love. The Best Bud Rose is the simplest one I carry — one button, palm size, ten functions — which makes it the easiest one to learn the technique on.
What should you do before first use?
Five minutes of setup saves a disappointing first session.
- Charge it completely. The magnetic cord is included. The light blinks while it charges and goes solid when it is full — a full charge takes about an hour and fifteen minutes. Do not judge a toy on a half charge.
- Clean it before the first session. It has been in a box and through a warehouse. A dedicated adult toy cleaner and a soft cloth is enough.
- Find the button and the opening. There is exactly one button, and there is one small opening in the middle of the soft silicone petals. That opening is the whole mechanism. Everything in this guide is about what happens between that opening and your body.
- Have water-based lubricant within reach. Silicone petals require water-based anyway, and it does real work here — a wet rim seals far better than a dry one.
- Test it in the air first. Power on and cycle through a few functions so your thumb learns the button. It runs at 40 dB or less, so nobody is hearing this.
How do you get a seal with the Best Bud Rose?
This is the section that matters. If you skim the rest, read this.
- Warm up first. An aroused clitoris sits differently and is easier to cover. Cold-start air pulse on an unaroused clitoris is how people conclude a toy is broken. Give yourself a few minutes of whatever you normally do before the toy comes out.
- Put lubricant around the clitoris, not inside the toy. A thin ring of water-based lubricant on the skin surrounding the clitoris is what makes the rim of the petals grip. Flooding the opening itself just muffles the pulse.
- Center the opening over the clitoris, then stop moving. You want the clitoris inside the opening, not underneath the petals, so lower it straight down rather than sliding it into place. You will usually feel the seal catch — the sensation jumps and the sound changes.
- Hold it lightly. Rest it. Two fingers of pressure, enough that it does not drift. That is all.
- Do not press harder. This is the single most common mistake. Pressing flattens the petals and shrinks the air chamber, so there is less air to move and the pulse gets weaker, not stronger. If you want more, change the setting — not the pressure.
- If you feel nothing, start over rather than adjusting. Lift it off completely, re-wet the skin, and set it down a few millimeters differently, tipping the whole toy so the opening follows the natural angle of your clitoris. Small angle changes do more than any amount of push.
- Break the seal on purpose when you stop. Slide a fingertip under the edge of the petals before lifting, rather than pulling it straight off.
Worth saying plainly: this is an external toy. It is used against the clitoris, the nipples, or other external erogenous zones, and nothing about it is designed to go inside. Nipples are often where people feel the seal click for the first time — same rules apply.
How do you find your setting with one button?
Three speeds and seven patterns live in one loop on one button, so clicking blindly lands you somewhere you did not choose at the worst possible moment. Here is the method I give everyone.
- Hold three seconds to power on. A press is a function change; a hold is power. Holding is also how you turn it off, which matters when you want it off now.
- Do your search before you are close, not during. Sit with it sealed and click calmly all the way around the loop once, counting. Now you know the order.
- Learn the three steady speeds first. As you count around, note where the three plain intensities sit. Most people find their answer in those three and never need the patterns at all. Pick the one that feels like "a bit less than I want" — with air pulse, the sensation builds, and the setting that feels perfect in the first ten seconds is often too much by minute two.
- Treat the seven patterns as a second pass. Pulsing patterns add and drop pressure on their own. Some people find them the whole point; some find they break the tension they were building. Try them on a separate session rather than in the middle of a good one.
- Count your clicks back to your favorite. Once you find your setting, note its number in the loop. Next time, power on, click that many times, and you are there in seconds.
- You are not on a clock. Run time is about an hour on high and up to an hour and a half on low.
Can you use it in the shower, and how do you charge it?
These two answers decide whether your toy lasts.
- Shower yes, bath no. The Best Bud Rose is shower friendly and splash-proof. It is not submersible. Do not drop it in the tub, do not take it in a pool, do not hold it under a running tap to rinse it out.
- This is how people ruin one. A bath feels harmless and is not. If you want something you can fully dunk, the Opening Act bullet wand is rated for submersion — different toy, different tool.
- Shower water fights your seal. Running water between the petals and your skin breaks the seal constantly. Step out of the stream, not under it, and re-wet the skin with lubricant if you need to.
- Dry it fully before charging. The cord is magnetic and snaps to the contacts. Wipe the toy down and let it dry before the cord goes on.
- Blink means charging, solid means done. About an hour and fifteen minutes.
- Recharge it at least every six months. Even untouched in a drawer. Turn it off when you are not using it and top it up twice a year, and the battery stays healthy. This is the rule people skip, then wonder why a barely used toy will not wake up.
How should you clean and store it?
Silicone petals and an ABS plastic body — hypoallergenic, phthalate-free, non-porous. Non-porous is good news: nothing soaks in. It still needs care, and the care is specific.
- Lubricant: water-based only. Silicone lubricant degrades silicone, and the petals doing all the work here are silicone. Aqua water-based lubricant is what I use with every silicone toy in my shop. If you want the full breakdown of what pairs with what, I made a lube and sex toy compatibility chart.
- Cleaning: a dedicated adult toy cleaner, and nothing else. Cleansing Foam before and after every session, with attention to the opening in the petals. No hand soap, no dish soap, no antibacterial cleaners — soap degrades toy material over time and residue left on a toy can disrupt vaginal pH. Never boil it, never put it in a dishwasher, and never use alcohol on it. Because it is not submersible, clean it with a damp cloth and cleaner rather than holding it under water.
- Breathable storage, one toy per bag. My Toy Tote is lined with Bioshield 75 and keeps things breathing instead of sweating in a drawer. One toy per tote matters — silicone toys stored touching each other can react and discolor. If you want a lock, the Locking Toy Chest comes in gold or black with a 3-digit combination lock, and the Lockable Adult Toy Chest is faux leather, velvet-lined, with two compartments, a carry handle and a combination lock.
- Travel note. At 2.75 inches long and 2.25 inches wide it goes in a purse or a carry-on without a conversation. Power it off with a three-second hold first, so a stray press does not start a party in your luggage.
What are the most common questions?
- "It felt like nothing. Is it defective?" Nearly always a seal issue. Lift it off, warm up more, add water-based lubricant around the clitoris, and set it straight down over the clitoris without pressing.
- "Can I use it with a partner?" Yes. It is external and small enough to hold in place during other activity, and one button means whoever holds it can change settings without looking.
- "Which color should I get?" It comes in red, pink, yellow and blue. That is entirely aesthetic — the function is the same.
- "Will the package say what it is?" No. It ships in plain outer packaging with no product imagery, and the return address does not reference intimate products.
- "Is it loud?" Maximum noise level is 40 dB or less — quiet enough that a closed door handles it.
